Shown below is a commemorative tin of a hard candy (Y) from Japan featuring a character from a movie (X), which is based on a semi-autobiographical of the same name. Y is a prominent motif in the film. Roger Ebert considers X  to be one of the most powerful anti-war movies ever made. Identify X. And Y for Brownie points.
